Etisalat - UAE & Greece

Delighted to share these images with you shot for global mobile provider Etisalat. This stills campaign was shot in both The UAE and Athens, Greece. A vast array of locations with bus loads of models - it was an epic adventure. The campaign revolves around the strap line ‘the sound of togetherness’. We shot in the desert, an opera house, a sports field, a shopping centre, a car park, the old port and an airport hangar. Logistically the shoot had its challenges -  I have included some behind the scenes images so you can see how we approached it. As an advertising photographer it was a pleasure to shoot this campaign.

Lens Culture Portrait Awards 2020

Delighted to share that my fish seller in Hanoi image has been nominated for the Lens Culture Portrait Award 2020.  Lens culture said: We’re delighted to announce 39 talented photographers as the winners, jurors’ picks and finalists of the LensCulture Portrait Awards. These remarkable photographers come from 16 countries on four continents, and their work reflects the dynamic range of contemporary portraiture being made around the world today.

In fact, this year, many of the winning images and series push well beyond the traditional boundaries of photographic portraiture to achieve unexpected results.

Highlights from this year’s winners include: family portraits that bring together 5 generations in one picture; collaborative portraits of vulnerable people who need to stay anonymous to protect their identities; conceptual self-portraits that question the sacrifices of trying to fit in to societal norms; pop-art portraits as political metaphor; fiction and alter egos; alternative process portraits; fringe groups who rumble in the forests; photos made on the road or in professional studios; fine art collages; as well as celebrations of pure beauty and light, and lots more.

We hope you discover some new sources of inspiration and contemplation, surprise and delight. Enjoy!

Sony World Photography Awards

Hugely honored and excited to share that I have recently been shortlisted for the Sony World Photography Awards for my Bikes of Hanoi images. The awards are the most prestigious in the world (well I think so) and it's doubly good to get nominated for a project that was - not that long ago - just an idea in my head that I self financed. As a portrait photographer working in the advertising sector it’s alway good when others like your work. You can see the full set of nominated images.

Lingard for APG

Recent shoot with Jesse Lingard shot up in Manchester. Jesse is a brand ambassador for APG and they were keen to use the time available with him to capture some key visuals and a short video piece. After he had finished training at Manchester United I shot the stills and directed the moving image piece. We looked after all aspects of the shoot production. As a sports portrait photographer it's always great to work with talent like Jesse. A few of the stills below as well as one cut of the moving aspect.

Audley Travel - Advertising Campaign

Here are some new advertising images for Audley Travel. A company that prides itself on delivering premium tailor-made experiences for their customers.

Audley’s attention to detail is a key point of difference in the travel industry. Staff have expert knowledge of countries and spend time with customers to make sure that the journeys they experience really match their wishes. It’s a case of not finding out where they want to go, but how they want to feel. For Audley, the holiday experience shouldn’t end when you come back home, it should be transformative and live on with you, changing your world view.

A big thanks to all those at Designate who created the campaign. The images will be used in a wide ranging print campaign in the likes of Harper’s Bazaar, the Sunday Times, Times, Telegraph magazines.

‘Travel made the Audley way stays with you forever’

There is a little backdown video of us at the end - which was shot at Holborn Studios.

Maxine Peake

Pleased to share the key art for Maxine Peake’s new film ‘Fanny Lye Deliver'dn’. The film recently  premiered at the London Film Festival and was directed by Thomas Clay. We shot this in London and also handled the post production.

The film is set on an isolated farm in Shropshire in 1657. Fanny Lye learns to transcend her oppressive marriage and discover a new world of possibility - albeit at great personal cost. As an advertising photographer it was great to work on this shoot and the reviews have been glowing.

Little Dish - Lifestyle Shoot

Recent shoot for Little Dish founders Hillary and Dean. I have been shooting with them for a good few years so it was great to make these images to promote their recent expansion into the North American market. We used their West London office / kitchen to produce these fun images. As a lifestyle photographer their in-house kitchen was a great relaxed setting.

Rehearsal Room

London musicians, new portrait photography series:

This week sees the launch of my new portrait photography series, capturing musicians practising outdoors across urban spaces in London. Not everyone wants to live next-door to someone who plays the double bass, the trumpet - or any large and loud instrument for that matter.

This consideration certainly forces musicians to get creative about their rehearsal space, which increasingly includes outdoor spaces. Studio rents are rising enormously for all creatives, especially in London, as old buildings get sold for office spaces and other developments. With rehearsal spaces becoming more expensive, some musicians use public spaces and parks to get in some of their rehearsal hours.

I spent the summer finding some of the musicians, who are utilising the corners of parks, tucked away basketball courts and forgotten patches of grass between tower blocks to get their essential practice hours.

The warmer summers, squeeze on creative space and increasing population density all contributes to this growing phenomenon, which has resulted in a really unique set of portraits.
